John O'Dea was born on October 18, 1879 in Boherroe in the Parish of Aglishcormick, County Limerick. He was the son of Michael (Old Blackbird) O'Dea and Bridget Lundon. John O'Dea married Mary McNamara in 1907 in Pallasgrean, County Limerick. John O'Dea died on April 4, 1954 in County Limerick at age 74. He was buried in Kilteely Churchyard, Kilteely, County Limerick.1
