Bernadette Day Gower
     Bernadette Day was born on February 4, 1917 in Highland Township, Bayard, Guthrie County, Iowa.1 She was the daughter of John Jeremiah Day and Carrie Frances Walsh. Bernadette Day married Jerald Gower on September 21, 1939 in St. Joseph Church, Jefferson, Greene County, Iowa. Standing up for Jerry and Bernadette were Leo Day and Margaret Garrity. After their marriage, they moved to the Gower farm near Paton. They lived here for 39 years with Jerry's mother Nora.1 Bernadette Day died on October 31, 2002 in Greene County Medical Center, Jefferson, Greene County, Iowa, at age 85.2 She was buried in Dawson Township Cemetery, Payton, Greene County, Iowa.2
     She witnessed the marriage of Nora Amelia Miller and Leo James Day on May 17, 1941 in Jefferson, Greene County, Iowa. Leo's sister Bernadette and Nora's brother Leo were witnesses at the wedding.1,3
