     John Day was born on May 23, 1848 in New York, New York. John's parents had only arrive in New York on May 11, 1848, and he was born less than two weeks later. It is possible he may habe been born in Minden, Montgomery County, New York, where the family is found in the 1850 census.1 He was the son of Darby Day and Johanna Murnane. John Day married Bridget Cooney on September 13, 1872 in Marshall County, Illinois. Witnesses for the marriage were John Moloney and Mary Ryan.2,3,4 John Day died on February 13, 1929 in Marshall County, Illinois, at age 80.1 He was buried on February 16, 1929 in St. Dominic Cemetery, Wyoming, Stark County, Illinois.1
